Amigasat Satellite Predictions
==============================
Instructions
------------
Amigasat was converted from a series of programs written on an
I.B.M. by W0SL (the batch mode program was written by W3IWI).Most
programs in the series are very much the same as their original except
the menu and the 'realtime'tracking .
Modifications were made in the areas of screen handling ,creating
a seperate window for the 'World Map',selecting a palette of colors
,making the menu look a little more sophisticated, adding speech and
the ability to enter your local time rather than U.T.C.
New routines had to be written to load and save the 'World Map'
as an IFF file (the original program saved the screen as a binary
file) and many other tasks.Any routine that was changed or added uses
labels rather than line numbers as it makes reading the program easier
(this can be seen in the 'realtime' tracking program).
I dont think there are any more bugs left in it but if anyone
finds some or improves the program then please drop me a message by
mail or forward via packet radio to VK2CZZ PBBS in newcastle
addressed to me.

Starting :
Start amigasat by resetting your amiga and putting the satellite
disk in as workbench.you will be asked for the present time (see next
item). Double click on the disk icon and then double click on the icon
labelled AMIGASAT. All of the programs are in the draw 'satellites'
but rather opening it up and waiting for it to print the icons it is
quicker to put the first program in the chain outside the draw.
Setting time :
When you load workbench of this disk the startup-sequence will
prompt you for the present date/time.If you have a realtime clock then
delete this file and include your own for reading the clock.
Select 'E' from the menu and you will toggle system time for each
press through :-
U.T.C. ........System time is U.T.C.
E.S.T. ........Eastern Standard Time
E.S.summer.T ........Eastern Standard summer time (daylight savings)
If your time zone is diffrent to these then add it to the menu program
and the conversion factor into the realtime tracking program.
Selecting Speech :
Select 'F' from the menu and you will toggle speech mode on or
off. With speech on the computer will say the satellites's name, azimuth
and elevation every 60 seconds when it is in range. It can be useful
when your eyes are glued to the dial of the radio looking for a beacon
or at the frequency you are listening too.
The only problem with speech is that it only leaves about 50k of
memory left and without speech you are left with about 100k.without
speech I have been able to run amigasat and starterm to use packet
radio at the same time but with speech there isnt enought memory (this
is because the translator library is loaded which is about 50k long) .
QTH data :
Be sure to enter your lattitude and longtitude into the system
when you first use it using the locaL data program unless you live
near Newcastle as it has my location stored at present.
Kep Elements :
The keplarian elements can be updated ,using the elements program
from the menu, each month AMSATT sends out its newsletter.
Batch Mode :
Batch mode is for predicting the future passes of one satellite
at a time.
Realtime mode :
Realtime mode can track up to 20 satellites at once and will
display the elevation and azimuth from your QTH and display the
satellites position on a world map.You can flip between information
and map by the 'page forward' / 'page behind' selectors but make sure
that to return to the menu using 'ESC' that the information page is at
the front and selected.
to return to the menu from the realtime program use 'ESC' from the
keyboard.
Happy Tracking
